Weinbach Alsace Cuvée Théo Riesling 2022

Dry. Cuvée Théo Riesling comes exclusively from the monopole Clos des Capucins, which sits at the base of the celebrated Schlossberg Hill. Taking its name from the Capucin friars who arrived here in 1619, the Clos is well protected from winds by the surrounding hills and by the walls enclosing it. The soils here consist of sand, alluvial pebbles and granitic gravel. Here the low cropping vines give birth to a deep Riesling that’s nonetheless supple, tender and accessible young, reflecting the sandy soils. This has a pulpy, fleshy personality with apricot, red apple and floral fruit and plenty of feisty, zesty and mineral-driven freshness. A juicy, layered wine that reflects the generosity of the vintage.
